    Hi Guys,

These shots show you Achilles about three quarters through base coating. For me, the process is never the same way twice. I'm constantly changing colours, moving from one area to another. What I've learnt is to keep my paint thin and my brush strokes smooth.;) My only real ambition in this hobby is to make my next model better than the one I'm doing now, and the one I did before. :D :D I watched Troy again tonight, and I've decides to stick with the sun tan effect created by the Orange Brown wash, and highlight with sunny skintone, mixed with ivory for the upper highlights.;)

    More pics will follow.:)

    Cheers

    Hi Tony,

looking great so far! Regarding the skintone, the camera can change it a lot, but from these pictures it looks spot on and adds up to the likness of the nice sculpt to Brad Pitt.

Look forward to see the progress! :)

Hi Matthew, ghamilt1, Denes and Marc,

Thanks for your comments guys.:D :D :D I've applied a coat of gloss acylic over all the metal surfaces, and on the face. The next step willbe to apply a brown/ black wash on to the armour to dull down everything but the shiny metal highlights.

    Cheers

    Hi Tony,

This looks great. I really like the metal work. The face is great.

Are you painting him right on the base ? Is that risky for paint
    splatter ?

Hi John, Ray, Ian and Dee,

Thanks for your comments. Dee, I'm painting him on the end of a pin vice. The base is what I use for photos. The head and helmet have now been glued together, but the head has not yet been glued to the upper torso.

    HI Tony,

OH.. ok.. I see... the reason why I asked is I have a figure I am going
to do.. its the Sumothay.. 54mm... and it was suggested to put him on
the base and paint him. do the groundwork and everything... so I am going to do that... and I thought hummm maybe you did that on this one.
I am just going to put drafting table to cover the base in case I get messy.

    Thanks
    Dee

    Hi guys,

Latest pics after a long sesion with the brushes. Brown stain applied to armour, black added to helmet. Still lots of blending to be done, particularly on the cheeks and lower face, and on the arms.:)

    Awesome painting Tony.
If i may: i find the transition between the shade and high around the eyes to hard. Maybe some fading will do the job.
But it is not finished as you said.

    Hi Marc,

Thanks for your comments mate. I agree with you. I've been constantly painting and repainting the area around the eyes to try and get the shading and the transtions even. I'm still not entirely happy with the face so more work is required.

    Cheers
