Looks good Ron. I did some stripping of a couple of figures I'm restarting this past weekend. Kind of looking forward to winter here - weather hot and sunny and the road keeps calling...

    Cheers

    Hi Huw
The weather here is bloody awful . it has rained the whole summer making work almost impossible , it is so bad I am going to put the garden furniture away this weekend .
Little dilema about this figure MM show him with gold lace on the pelisse but he is a NCO and my references point to aurora braid for NCO guys .
He is nearly finished after the strip due to the spillage of cyno on him and i had done him in acrylics which i was not happy with so the tiny cyno spillage tipped the balance and off came the paint .
Much happier now with the oil finish :)

    Hi Ron.

We're having a succession of heat waves here and often it's too hot for me.

I will check my references but I'm sure it was mixed braid - for the pelisse green mixed with aurora or gold (on train to work so need to check tonight but think aurora).

What paint stripper are you using? I've one figure where the paint simply refuses to budge!

    Cheers

My preferred paint stripper is water and Dettol mixed 50/50. Works a treat and available at my local shop!

Dettol disinfectant , works a bloody treat and leaves metal castings shining bright , an overnight soak will do the trick , but you can see the results within about ten minutes , all you need is an old tooth brush (y)

PS I use it neat , but might try a 55/50 mix the next time:facepalm:

Thanks for the info. We don't get dettol here but there must be an equivalent... So something to do during my break. Thanks gents.

Huw my sister in law lives in Garmisch in Bavaria and if shes ever looking for something common in the UK but not in Germany she generally gets it from Indian stores when shes in Munich.
Not always on the shelf though.

Thanks Del. I've found that we can get Dettol hand washes and toilet cleaner in Switzerland but not bottles of the stuff. I will visit Germany on Saturday.

Dettol also works well on resin figures. Haven't tried on plastic though.
