Here’s a thought: Ron is busting it out on this piece, and stimulating conversation amongst a bunch of us oilers..how about a group build? Pick a common subject.maybe another NP piece...and we all have at it using Ron’s methods..share as we get on?...

I tend to visualise in quadrants formed by a saltire.
Usually highest point in upper left then reducing in height clockwise with the low point being in the lower left.
There are certainly merits in having an odd number of figures, not so much a problem with two but four doesn't look great but in 3D this can be compensated by pose and arrangement.

For those of us who are less well educated....."saltire" is also known as 'Saint Andrews Cross'....or to put it simply....a bloody X   :blackeye:

Whilst waiting for some bits and pieces to arrive....I decided to do some more work on the main base.
With so much of the detail going to be hidden by the head and hand...it's an exercise in restraint.
Add to that my theme of 'nature reclaiming it's own'....there will be quite a lot of vegetation over and around the head and hand.....so with this in mind I have kept the colours fairly muted.

First up....the bodies and heads/arm of the 'droids'......

A look at the overall base and the various colours applied as oil washes....

That will be the key to success for the piece. To the extent it conveys a regrowth ..the post, post apocalypse ..it will really be special..
