According to Franklin's that's correct for light company David.
But it does say the 93rd wore a red and white diced band,
    with a green hackle though.
    Bit on it here.
    Lovely piece of work.(y)

Another excellent piece. Your reds are so good and I really like the face - it's a much more simple (but more effective I think) style than the micro detail that is often aimed for at the moment.
Who made this bust - is it Young?
    Cheers

    Red is Humbrol 153 undercoat
Then an oil base of Bright Red with a bit of a green made from Cobalt Blue and Lemon Yellow added to reduce its brightness. Shade with more green and even Black Blue into the base, with a flesh type mix for the highlights.

That's a lovely piece David and you might be right about the badges. According to my extensive research, (3 minutes on Google),after 1805 the regiment were authorised to wear the Sphinx but the individual companies could instead wear an appropriate badge (bugle for the light company, grenade for the grenadier company etc.) The white hackle was worn by the grenadier company so he would be sporting either the Sphinx or a grenade as I read it bit I am in no way, shape or form an expert. It does give me something to think about though when I get round to doing mine

Regardless, that is a lovely bit of painting that's going into my reference file for when the time comes (y)

I love the subtle blending of the face colours. It’s so much more natural than some of the cartoon-like finishes that seem to be currently popular.
