    Guys hi

Found these on the hard drive and realised I had never posted them.

90mm scale, made from plastic card, brass rod, and magic sculpt.

Nice one Pete...did you have a scratchbuilt or converted figure in mind for it..?

    Roy.

    Veeeery nice!

Haven't yet attempted a scratchbuilt weapon.
Will there be a"Rothose", a red trousered Frenchman to go with it ?

    and the inspiration

work on this piece very slow, and my inability to sculpt satisfactory heads tends
    to de-motivate me.

That's a very inspiring little vignette from, I think a much larger piece by Eduard Detaille...and there are some beautiful little scenes in just this single large painting.

Go for it Pete..it looks great so far.

This is a real exciting period, and Detaillie,s art work gives one so many avenues for ideas....Mate that weapon looks great,.... Look forward very much to see you do the standing bloke, good stuff Pete......

Very nice Pete. I'm impressed by the patience you guys who scratchbuild the weapons have... It looks so tedious! But the results are obviously worth it!!

    Hi Pete

As usual I'm late on the scene

This is looking very good. Being an ex-firearms dealer I always pay close attention to the "gats" provided with figures. The Chassepot looks pretty well spot on from what I can see.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I probably am) but is this painting a combo job between Detaille and de Neuville ? Somewhere back there in among the cobwebs I seem to recall that.

Nice work mate, and I look forward to seeing more postings as it progresses

    Cheers

    Guys hi

Thanks for all the encouragement, perhaps I need to break out the putty again.

Phil - thanks, and yes you right, if you look at the picture closely you can
see Detaille's name on the waterbottle of the standing figure and De Neuville on
the haversack of the other. I have half a mind to include these when painting the figures ;)

Francesca, hey its a damm site easier building rifles than it is sculpting heads and
    faces.

I have a side view of the rifle scaled to 90mm and use it to create plastic card blank, these are then joined, but with barrel and ramrod inserted and the files
    sanded to shape.

    Hi Pete

Yes, you can tell from the standing bugler - he's got the classic de Neuville feet! (Large size  )

    Good stuff!
