    Hi guys,

Please see below the first pics of my latest project. As a former paratrooper myself, I'm drawn to this subject and I absolutely love this pose. No doubt that the Alpine range of figures are among the very best in terms of sculpting, casting, accuracy, fit and presentation.

As usual, I'm painting in Josonya and Vallejo acrylics and will do oil washes over the acrylics.\

    Comments and feedback always welcome.

    Nice start Tony,

I have one of these on my bench that I've been itching to slap some paint on. I'll follow this one.

Hi Taesung, its a beautiful figure mate. I hope I can do it justice. The head is just blu taked on at present as I intend to keep working on the face.

Hi Adrian, I agree mate. I spent the last three nights painting the uniform to try and get the colours spot on. I'm now working on the equipment and weapon.

Hi Mike, I look forward to seeing your version of this figure. I've attached another WIP pic below to give you an update.

I was fortunate enough to receive a delivery from a mate who recently returned from China. Five boxes of paint brushes in sizes from 000 to 2 - 100 brushes per box.
That's 500 red sable brushes for the princely sum of $80. The best part is I used them last night, and I'm very happy with them.

    Hi Tony
Great start you have the colour for the M42 jump uniform off to a T, I spent hours and hours trying to mix the colour I was happy with for my Jim Gavin bust and even though I call it finished I'm still not fully happy with it even though I have hundreds of colour pictures of originals and my BOB film version. I know it's to late but shame they moulded the Airborne 1st Aid packet onto the front of the helmet. Looking forwards to seeing the finished figure

p.s. sorry about my obsession with WW2/ U.S uniforms and equipment

was the 1st aid kit not worn in this manner then?

I like how this is coming on Tony, thanks.

    Hi Scotty
I can answer that question for you ...Yes the 1st aid packet was seen attached to the helmet but not until September 1944, the first time being Market-Garden Operation and then very prominent on the Varsity Operation, it is very misconstrued that they were worn on the helmet on D-Day despite many reproduced reference pictures in books and on the net.
    thanks
    Alan
