That is looking superb John with very smooth transitions on all of the colours with just the right amount of contrast-wish I could handle Acrylics like that.

It's indeed very well painted!! Nice and smooth!
I like the pose of this figure, shows a strong character...
You did a great job on him.
I just have a suggestion, dark a little bit more the white on the deeper folds
of the trousers. I lacks a little dark shadows in my opinion.

Maurizio Bruno sculpts wonderfully natural poses in all his pieces and you've achieved a brilliant paint job on this one....cheers.

    Hi John.
It's a beautiful paintjob but I miss a bit more contrast everywhere, specially on the face and pants.I know contrast it's a matter of taste and every people has his own oppinion about that but in this scale I really miss a bit more of it.
    all the best

Sorry Pedro, but I disagree, I think the white of the trousers are really well painted, looking at the third phto, they are perfect for me.

    Gentlemen,
Just a few lines to redress the ballance.
In reality high contrast is not always an option. I do find it refreshing when I see a true artist hitting; the colours shading and highlights accurately without the black to white in one easy step.
We would all look very strange if we walked around in high contrast mode.

Try to look at subtlety as an art form. This piece may not have the weathering and crash bang wallop that very often makes a good figure but it is truly a very fine piece of art.
    Cheers,
    Keith

Hello Pedro. Thank you for your positive feed back.I decided a softer approach with his white breeches. Its hard some times with white not to make it look to dirty. I had some of the shadows darker initially but decided to soften them. They do look a little darker in contrast in the flesh as I have over exposed the white a little in the photos to show the black shako. I tend to like ,softer contrasts personally. I will take some more photos when he is complete with a different colour background to get as close to the real thing. Thanks again for your feed back.
