great start, I like it and this figure bring me back in the past...

I did a lot of Labayen in the eighties and also some ancien regime flags.

Jaybo... isnt really difficult to draw this kind of flags, the most important is to divide correctly the different areas..

Ah! but do not forget my Friend I am living in 'la belle France', so Red or Blue nobody is my enemy:D.
This fine fellow is looking good Daniel. If you are going to add anything to the face I think shadow would be better than highlights. But you will see what is needed better than Me just going by the photograph.
    All the best,

I like your way of thinking Keith :).
I didn't know you wore living in France.
I only been in England across the pond, i spent a great 12 days in a beatiful town called Eastbourne and visited London.
I did the visa to cross the channel and visit France but money was going to be a problem at the time and decided not to go.
One day i will go with my wife in a romantic get away, but she already knows she will have to have some Napoleonic time hehe.
    Best regards

    Hi Daniel,
There is a lot of Napoleonic time to be had in Paris.......oh and some romance to be had too.
    You will both enjoy France.
    All the best,

Always enjoy your step-by-step posts, Daniel! And I think Ivo is setting you up for a challenge, regarding the flag :). Thanks, as always, for the effort you expend to share your process with us.

    Hi Daniel,
Very nice progress with the whites.........your specialty.
I notice a lot more depth in the figure with your touch-ups.
I think we are all looking forward to the arrival of the flag.
    Good luck,

I keep doing touch ups here and there, it is an obsession for finding the right shade of colors .

While i am awaiting reply on the flag, i de ided to go ahead and try my own.
I bought some wire at home depot for the flag pole, cut it to more less what i believe could be the right height and primed.
Then i mixed some magic sculpt and green stuff.
I made a ratio of 80/20 on the mix, the bulk of the mix with MS , i like the green stuff since add a little bit of flexibility for the work to be done. 20141117_181506.jpg

After mixing the two epoxies i let it rest for about 20 minutes.
Then used the cutting board and covered with baking aluminum foil paper.
Rolled the mix and used a tool like when you are making pasta, previously brushed with warm water so it wouldn't stick.

Then i cut it the square shape on a cardboard , place it on top of the leveled mix and used an exacto knife to cut the square shape
After that my little helper decide that she want it to participate so i let her twist and reshape the flag, and she brushed more water to it.
i will have to wait for the flag to cure and will follow with the cross which i probably use lead foil or green stuff
    cheers.
