    Hello folks,

As my finished big diorama of Yorktown is collecting dust in my garage i decided to start clean up process and to make lttle changes and improve some areas.
I had a Moumted George Washington and Eochambeau, Washington's horse was rerpurposed and then ended up loosing the figure, not sure where it is.
So, this will bring some changes i thought it will improve the scene.
I will use the Eochambeau mounted figure as one of other French high command and will use 2 figures from Front Rank that were left out .
I will convert them to look some what like this Illustration.

    Hi Daniel

Great to see this Diorama again and to hear the plans you have , there’s already some finely painted figures everywhere on it , finely detailed

As for gathering dust in garage ....will say it again your pieces should be in a MUSEUM

    Following with interest

    Have fun with each figure

    Happy benchtime

Do you display your work anywhere, at shows for example? It seems a pity to have such lovely dioramas gathering dust in the garage.

    Thanks Mate,
This Diorama took me a good 7 years to complete, i was on and off with few figures in between.
There are another 3 panels with plenty of figures, including French Artillery.

    Thanks Kev,
The idea is to donate this to the Yorktown battle field Museum.
I haven't got im touch with the right person yet.
I think this year will be an important anniversary of the Battle.
I may take them inside my car and drive the 7 hours to the Battle field .

100 % agree with you on that ,
I need to buy a display case, but these 4 panel diorama is big.
I will try to get in touch with the rigjt person at the Yorktown Museum, but these days it is hard to talk to one on the phone, you always go through the automatic voice system and i have little patience for that.
    Cheers!

Wow, 7 years to complete but a project from the heart it appears. Nice to see this at such an advanced stage and it will be interesting to see your enhancements, good another great thread to follow.

I corrected the height of the flag poles, they were way too high, and also fixed some painted areas.
I have place these Fine Officers of the Sosissonais back on the field.

Then i started my conversion on the Comte de Rochambeau.
I have clipped few areas , used some X-acto knife in others and sanded them.
I have moved the arm ( left ) with a clamp tool and placed to a position that more less resemble the arm holdimg the walking stick.
Started the work on the coat using a mix of Magic sculpt ( about 70%) and Greenstuff ( 30%).
This mix work really well if you let it sit for about 20' before you start applying it to the figure and work it. battle-of-yorktown-gettyimages-959929304-2.jpg 20240608_125839.jpg 20240608_142426.jpg

    Hi Daniel

I just love the standard bearers ...the focal point of the Regt

The Comte is going to be good as well ....very fine putty placement....following this little gem with a happy face

Do you use a talcum powder when rolling out ?

    Have fun @ the bench

Love the standard bearers especially seeing all the troops marching behind them. The conversion looks good so far, I've still to to try the putty mix you use, just keep forgetting when I'm at my desk!

    Thanks Simon,
That mix gives you rhe best of both, the reason i like the big part of the mix be MS is that it is easier to sand than if i make 50/50 mix due to greenstuff properties.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try got to say I admire the sculptors who use Greenstuff only. I also recently got some Brownstuff to try, I understand it's stiffer than Greenstuff so I'll probably end up trying to blend that as well.

    Cheers Simon
