This little bust (nominal 1/10) is a 3D print from Tytan Troll. It is a section of a small scale figure "expanded" in printing to make it bust sized.
This means the detail and textures are soft and very exaggerated in a simplistic "cartoon" style. Which is fine when painting in that style, effectively painted like a big gaming figure. Done in acrylics over a white enamel undercoat as always.

This is "Mad Mary" a character from the classic Advanced Dungeons & Dragons RPG game adventure "Ravenloft", recently ruined for modern audiences as "The Curse of Strahd".

standalone

The original 3D file is from here:

I can highly recommend these little "toy" busts as they are hugely fun to paint.

Rob, another excellent painting display on a very unusual piece.
Love the flesh tones.

Thanks guys, switching back to a simple high contrast style of painting was refreshing. Apart from her face, which was done in glazes as my usual method, everything is just opaque layers. No attempt at blending or transition on this one.

I have a couple more from the range on order from a printer and intend to do them in the same style.

Nice one, really quite like the skin tones on her, though I'm sure she lived down the street when I was a lad.

Cheers Simon

Excellent job on this mate. The flesh colours suit the subject well. I can imagine that's how she would look. And of course fantastic work on the pattern.

Ive painted two Tytantroll mini busts before. Didn't realise the whole 'expanded' thing. Interesting and makes sense now lol.

Very nicely done. The painting style you used suits the figure well IMO.

Hi Rob

That's a fun paint , like the tartan and the way you've done the hair

Theses files seem to have no limit in use

Thanks for sharing

Looking forward to seeing more

Thank you all, I am glad you like her. :)

The skintone base is an old GW colour "Tallarn Flesh" which is a very desaturated natural looking colour with virtually no yellow tone.

Would be great to see them if you have a link somewhere, the guy who does my printing for me recommended the range. I was originally sceptical based on the pictures in the MiniFactory link but am really glad I did give them a try.

Yeah they are definitely fun little busts. Even if they are just 'doodle' pieces or practice pieces. Not to take anything away from the sculpting.

Here's the two I did....

'Little dead riding hood' (dark I know) and the Dwarven dude.

Noticed these were 3yrs ago now
But yeah I remember them being quite cheap and using these to practice on before painting anything more expensive. But again, not to take anything away from these sculpts.

Those are great Rocco, especially the Dwarf with attitude.

"Doodle" pieces is exactly right, does not matter if you mess up as they are very sturdy and really cheap. I hope other painters will give them a try.
