I used pictures of a pair of original gaiters that are in the collection of Historical Artist Don Troiani.

Hi Gary, he's looking great..I love the sense of movement and that he looks just a little 'off balance' which I think is an excellent way for creating tension in the pose.

Looking forward to your next steps.

    All the best...Roy.

Guy and Roy, Thanks. there's more to come. There will be fewer pictures between the stages, but I'll take as many as I'm able to.~Gary

I managed to repair the one corner of the coat, in addition toadding the roughed in waistbelt. Some of the wrinkles for the front of the frock have also been worked in. I was going to put a knapsack on him, but think I'll go with a blanket roll instead.

Here is the head so far. I just cleaned it up a bit, so ignore the dust dust left over from polishing that remains on the face. I have to do the eyes and add some teeth. He'll be finished off with a chin beard and a "Hardee hat".

A head in this size is quite a chore to do.

Here's a quick couple of pics showing the progression of the face. I had to use some green putty mixed with the Aves as it's way too light to see what you're doing.
