2nd US cavalry bugler 1861

    While working on the recently posted texas ranger I have also been working on a second mounted figure this is now completed and posted below.
    The figure is a bugler of the 2nd US cavalry 1861 wearing their distinctive orange lace.The figure was inspired by a painting by Don Trioani from his book "regiments and uniforms of the civil war"
    I wanted to show the bugler at the charge so I used a merkliin galloping horse with an andrea saddle the rest of the figure is scratch built with historex head bugle and sabre.It is painted in oils

    I think this guy turned out pretty nicely. I would mention that to me the dapples on the hose look a bit too evenly spaced and too uniform in size. But I am no horse expert to say the least. They just seem a bit too evenly sized and distributed for my artistic taste. Keep it up!!!
