    Hello Planeteers,
As i am almost done with my Battle of Fontenoy in 40mm , I am starting on a new venture with these little fellas from Minden.
Always seen some pictures and threads about Minden figures and want it to give it a go.
The details are great and size/ body proportions are correct in my Humble opinion.
I am starting with my standard way of cleaning metal figures by " polishing" with a scotch Brite sponge or 3M 1000 grit sand pqper in order to get rid of any casting residue, thia help the paint to flow smoother on the figure.
I am using Mr Metal primer ( Clear) this time around. 30cd24e44817d54faed86f772947d3e8.jpg produit_image1_28628_1513332955.jpg 20230926_223425.jpg 20230926_210325.jpg

The quality of the anatomy on smaller scale figures like these ones these days is astonishing given that just a few years ago, they always looked squat and totally out of proportion.

Unfortunately the vast majority still do look like that, the move to plastics has made it worse not better and even the majority of 3D sculpted wargame figures are done to match. Which is sad because they could do it right so easily.

The Minden figures (and the partner "Fife and Drum Miniatures" range) are probably the finest on the market. Richard Ansell was a true artist.

I always enjoy seeing these done with the care and attention they deserve.

I don't model in this scale Rob but I have the Battle of Little Big Horn (complete set) by "Oniria" and those are like high quality 54mm's reduced in scale.

As you say however, if they can get them wrong so consistently, then surely it is just as easy to get them right!

This time it will be a small scale display, probably about 21 or so Figures, only this regiment.

    Hi Daniel

Going to one very distinctive Battalion. As always good start , each face has a different look

Interesting to see that the Corcelle headwear looks like there's lacework but none showing on Rigo's plate

Look forward to seeing more on these fine fellows ....it's a great flag as well

    Happy benchtime

    Hi Kev,
Regarding the headgear...many contemporary Illustrations show like a bag as this figures have, others show the lace on them , it is a white cross for troopers and silver white for Officers.
I believe, and this is based on other grenadiers I have painted in the past that the design with the white cross Lace was introduced from the 1750's.
I have an Osprey Book From Louis XV Army and i know Patrice have Illustrated another Grenadier de France, so, i will try to snap a pic and description of the uniform.
I always trust Patrice C. For references.

I have painted Front Rank , Black Hussar Miniatures ( I love these figures) , some Perry and now Minden/ Crann Tara.
Yes, variations between them is setimes intriguing for lack of better word.
