2013 Lone Star Figure Show - March 14th-16th

Discussion in 'Figure Shows, Workshops and Events' started by Anders Heintz, Feb 4, 2013.

The second annual Lone Star Figure Show will be held March 14-16th, 2013 at the Renaissance Hotel in Dallas, Texas. The very same location it was held last year. Once again we will bring you first class amenities along with a first rate figure show with many exciting aspects.
As with last year, we once again offer more than just a figure show, the goal is that each person who comes to the show will grow as an artist as well as making new friends and enjoy the competition.
This year we will have two seminars on Saturday the 16th of March. The first one will be an airbrush demonstration with the talented Chris Mrosko, who will show us how to get into airbrushing and basic techniques. Airbrushing is a very unique skill for figure painters and as Julio Cabos and Rusty Nail have demonstrated over the years, there is a definite use for airbrushes within the figure hobby.
The second seminar is still TBA.
There will be many vendors to buy the latest and greatest from as well as a figure auction, and new for this year, a raffle for very, very nice prizes.

We are pleased to offer three different, exciting and informative workshops at this year’s Lone Star Figure Show.

We are very fortunate and excited to be able to offer another two day painting clinic with Julio Cabos. For those of you who missed it last year, or for those who were there and want another opportunity to learn to paint with Andrea Miniatures master painter, this is your chance to do so right here in the US. Last year’s workshop was a smashing success and everyone involved learned new techniques and made new friends. This year will be no different! We have a master painter in his own right, Gilbert Moreno, as our workshop translator. The class includes a figure and a high quality brush from Andrea Miniatures. Paint, palettes, lights etc will also be provided. Just bring yourself, an optivisor and your favorite brushes and enjoy two days of nonstop painting with one of the world’s leading artists!

Cost for the workshop is $175 per person and it will be held at the renaissance hotel Dallas.

For reservations please email Anders Heintz at anders@aircanopy.net

Reserve your seat early to ensure guaranteed place in workshop. There will be a maximum of 15 participants.

And new for this year are two different one day workshops. These workshops are very specific and will be held on Friday, march 15th, 2013 at the renaissance hotel Dallas.

John Long, who is well known for his excellent groundwork and scenery in miniature, will conduct a one day workshop focusing on making his trademark groundwork. John will show his techniques and materials that he uses to create his masterful scenery. Each student will follow along, making his/her very own base under John’s guidance. Everyone will receive a base, material for groundwork and instructions through-out the workshop. All tools and materials will be provided, but it is encouraged for participants to bring along a base they are working on, or material for a base they want to do. This secondary project can serve multiple purposes such as if you have any questions you have access to John who will be happy to assist in any way possible.

The workshop will be held Friday march 15th, 2013 and will have a maximum Of 10 participant.

The cost for this workshop is $90 per person.

To enroll in this one day workshop send Anders Heintz an email at anders@aircanopy.net

The second one day workshop this year is with master painter Doug Cohen. Doug will be holding a small, very intense class on painting faces in acrylics. The class is limited to only 6 slots to allow for maximum one on one time. Miniature and paint will be supplied, only thing you need to bring is your favorite brushes and an optivisor or equivalent if needed.

The cost of the workshop is $150 per person.
