Basically this second figure is posed very similarly to Edinburgh sculptor Alan Herriot's Black Watch soldier memorial at Black Watch Corner, near Ypres. I'm changing a couple of things - the soldier is wearing the Glengarry bonnet and only the front kilt cover.

During October and early November, having suffered a large number of casualties, the 1st Battalion The Black Watch, as part of 1st (Guards) Brigade took part in three separate battles which made up the First Battle of Ypres - Langemark (21– 24 October 1914), Gheluvelt (29 – 31 October 1914) and Nonne Bosschen (11 November 1914).

The figure is intentionally slim because there is a lot of uniform and equipment to put on later.

    Comments and critique welcome!

Like the Australian, I'm waiting for castings of British field equipment from masters made for this figure.

    All the best,
    Dan

Cheers Michael! Thought it looked about right myself! Right pleased with the Glengarry also. Can't add the tassels (or whatever they're called) until the service coat collar is on.

Working on the Model Ts for the LCP now while the castings are being done.

    All the best,

"Brilliant job, is it coming out commercially?" Cheers Rob. Much appreciated! Asking if one of my figures is coming out commercially is always a nice compliment.

But no, I just don't do commercial sculpting. A few commissions sometimes, but nothing fancier.

The Australian and this figure have a possible business destination but can't say more. If that falls through, maybe I'd offer both of them unpainted.

    All the best,
    Dan
