Hopefully I have the rider in the correct position now.

    What do you think?

    All the best,
    Dan

Much better Dan. I've just sent you this pic but it'll be good to post here to compare with your fig.

Dan, It may also benefit you to look at the angle of the legs and feet of your figure when finalising the pose. You will see from the photo references the the toes point out and that the ankles are down. You will either need to straighten out the leg or do some work on the ankle area of the boots to achieve this. I am not critisising you modeling skills but speak as a horseman of many years experience.

Ken - I appreciate the critique. I was on a pony when I was about 7 years old and that's the only time, so I value the input of those who ride!

    Martin - Many thanks!

All - today I'm working on the two large leather saddle bags and the canteen and leather cover. They're mounted on the horse and I'll sculpt the trousers in and around them.

    All the best,
    Dan

    Hello Dan,

    All raring to go eh?...:)

I notice in the illustration from Roger that the rider's head is only marginally taller than the horse's erect head, suggesting a medium built man on a large horse (Trakehner?). You may wish to consider shortening the torso on your mannequin?

    Thanks for the comment Victor!

Mounted-Uhlan.jpg Actually this is the period photo I'm trying to use for the pose, size, etc. As the physicians say, "...a well-nourished..." Uhlan.

    All the best,
    Dan
