For the past three week-ends, I've been scuffling with this Frenchman. The horse is Verlinden (I think). The boots, head and hands are from kits.

I think the mounting of the figure on the horse looks about right and I've sculpted two front-mounted large leather saddle pouches, two rear-mounted smaller leather pouches, two large blankets or one tent-half and one blanket (I'm not sure which from the photo and illustration I'm using as a reference.), a collapsible canvas water bucket, and made some modifications to the Berthier carbine and M1888 sword in scabbard. The US M1903 cavalry sword was nearly identical to the French M1888 - not quite so curved, but otherwise the same.

The figure looks a bit wet in the photos only cos it is! I cleaned it up prior to taking the snaps.

    What do you think?

    All the best,
    Dan

Cheers Martin! I make a little progress every weekend.

I'm gettin' kinda tired of looking at half a head. I think I'll put his hat on next weekend.

    All the best,
    Dan

Eduardo: You couldn't have said anything more complimentary! Just getting the rider on the horse properly is much harder than it looks.

    All the best,

    Hi Dan,
Good start. I thought the blankets and pouch were kit parts when I seen the photo, very nicely done.(y)

Richie - Again, you couldn't have said anything more complimentary. All hand made. Cheers!

It's probably a bit difficult to see all the bits, so I thought I'd provide some more reference photos and illustrations.

    Still lots to add.

And I'm still going back and forth on the differences in the Hussar and the Chasseur uniform and equipment.

    All the best,
    Dan
