Would one of the members fluent in French be kind enough to help me by doing some web searching? I want to sculpt a figure of a 1914 French Hussar and horse. I have adequate pictures and references of the hussar uniform, weapons and personal field equipment, but not the horse equipment. To be specific, I
am looking for pictures and text referring to the official French army
cavalry saddle, saddle bags, bridle and bit and other equipment that would
have been in use in 1914. If there are differences in the horse equipment
of the hussars vs. the cuirassiers, dragoons, etc., I would like to know
about those also. Anything you can send my way would be most appreciated.

    All the best,
    Dan

Dan, if no one can help you try coontacting the French Riding School in Samur France. I contected them a couple of years back and they helped me out with some info on a 15th century saddle I was researching.

Also the musee de l'armee (http://www.invalides.org/pages/menu.html) may be able to help out your search.

I've received several replies to this request for help on the Great War and the Society of the Military Horse forums. If anybody would like copies of the images, please contact me.

    All the best,
    Dan
