    Well I've finally finished it.

Sorry about the quality of the images, I'll hopefully replace these in due course, when I have more time, just wanted to get some images up on the web.

Overall I'm happy with how it's turned out.

As always your comments and critique will be most welcome.

    Thanks

    Tim

    Hi Tim!

Nice figure and finely painted. I think there could be more contrast in the shadows and highlight. Especially in the red trousers. The trousers also looks a tad bit glossy, but I could be due to the photos.

    Good work!

    Cheers

    Tim,
good crisp painting. The details are fantastic. I think he looks like he could use a bit more in the way of shadows over all, some to the flesh, some to the reds and particularly to the whites. The whites could use just a little contrast boost especially around the gloves and where the straps fall into shadows. Great effort over all though!

    Hi Tim..
This is very nice. One suggestion I have, even though I am fairly new at the hobby... I am working on a LaSalle figure with the braid on his jacket and I think yours might look good if you add more shadow... to give it some depth..
What I did was I took some Burnt Umber and just hit near the buttons then
featherd it out to the center.. and then took black.. like Mars Black and went
right along the buttons and then blended that...

Tim, Nice job. I would say the figure needs a bit more contrast. One thing to keep in mind is that flash photography can wash a lot (if not all) of the contrast out of a figure. Try taking some pictures without the flash. Your camera may have a feature where you can adjust the contrast. I NEVER use the flash, and rely on a couple of lamps and or the available light.~Gary

    Nice one Tim.
By way of critique, I can't add anything other than what's already been said.

But what I will say is that for one so new to this game, it's certainly a top drawer piece - you've got way more guts than me. Took me ages to do a figure so complex, so well done mate. Look forward to seeing you and some more of your stuff.

Thanks guys. Comments from you all are much appreciated.

The calottes were done with Vallejo scarlet, which seems to dry with a slight sheen, it's more noticable in the photographs then in real life, but I take your point, too late for this figure, but in future I'll matt it down if I use again, or mix my own from Andrea, but yes the contrasting on these is probably under done.

I always find whites difficult to shade, I guess more practice will help. The face in the flesh (excuse pun) does look much better.

    Moore

Again I think the photos wash out any contrast on the braiding as in real life there is more.

The camera I use is a very old 1.2 megapixcel camara with limited felxibility. As I said I will try and take some better pictures and replace accordingly.

Thanks for your kind words, guts or foolishness, I'm not sure which. Still a steep hill to climb, but do think that I am improving with every figure. I look forward to meeting with you again.

Thanks again for all your comments.

That is a very nice figure, you did a nbice job.
I would give it more contrast by deepening the shadows and increasing the highlights.
You're definitely on the rigfht track, keep up the good wprk.

    Cheers
