British Napoleonic Infantry, some heavy cavalry and hussars are fairly well represented in many scales, but there are few examples of light dragoons. Their initial uniform included the Tarleton helmet, which according to Wellington gave them a distinct silhouette. Horse Guards therefore issued a very French looking uniform with a plastron fronted tunic and a broad topped shako.

The technique I use is to produce a basic figure in Milliput which is then cast in resin. It is this which is then detailed (I read about this technique in an article about David Grieve many yars ago).

    That is a lovely sculpt.
It could be the photograph, but my eye is drawn to the left arm as it joins the torso. It looks somewhat low.
    Hopefully it's just my eyesight.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

A lovely piece of work Mike, and as you say, a subject that is rarely covered.

I stood in front of a mirror to get this right (!). If the hand is rested on the hip, the shoulder girdle doesn't move only the shoulder joint.

Figure should be available from Victory Miniatures (http://victoryminiatures.co.uk) in the early New Year - box art awaited (hopefully I'll be able to do that next week).

Don't know why but British Napoleonics aren't really my bag, unlike their French counterparts. The LD are the exception and this is a superb example. Now, do I have room for this big boy?
