    Hey Guy's,

Well I finally took the plunge back into the hobby and have been working on this figure; been slow but since its been so long since I've done anything I didn't want to mess anything up.
The figure is the Verlinden North Vietnamese regular with a new metal AK rifle from Tankmaster, very nicely detailed rifle and from Russia for only $7.00 total!!
This figure was holding a magazine like he was checking the ammo in it but I carved it out and am going to do something different.
Anyway this is where I'm at so far (kinda rusty  ) Base coat and some shadowing, I'm using acrylics for the first time on a figure of this scale so it is also a trial and error
    experiment.

Please tell us more about Tankmaster 120mm weapons! Do you have a URL for the firm?

    All the best,

    Looking good Thomas.

I hate to bring this up but the magazine is attached too far forward - it should be pretty hard up to the magazine-release housing. This is a modern AK but the position is consistent for all the variants:

I think this magazine design is more modern than the figure too (anybody?). The stamped-metal types feature ribbing to increase stiffness, like here.

I have purchased several items From Lance and he is a great guy to deal with! The OA brand is nice stuff as well. I have been pleased with everything I got.

    Einion,

Oh man your right! thanks for pointing that out to me, but the magazine is the resin one that came with the figure kit, actually the only part of the weapon that survived and I was going to get a resin replacement from Red Lancers from a company that puts out weapon sets for this scale (the name escapes at the moment) they have alot of French weapon sets but had one for Vietnam that had a nice chinese style AK that would have been perfect but that set was discontinued and was removed from Red Lancers catalog so this was the closest one I could find short of sculpting one which I stink at sculpting

    Howdy Tom,
The company you are thinking of is New Order Design Models. What Red Lancers has is all there is. They told me they have not heard anything New Order in 8 months. I am trying to track them down to see if they will still produce/sell their molds.
Question for you, Tankmasters site no longer shows those AKs? Where can I get them? Ryan

It would be a challenge to sculpt for most anyone :)

Yes I noticed their not on the website either, email Lance and ask him, I sent payment for the rifle through him.
I hope New Order continues or sells the molds to someone who will their very nice and the selection of weapons are great.
