Being quite happy with the way my flat painting is progressing I thought I'd see if the practice has helped with painting round figures.

What inspired me to paint this figure by Michael Roberts Ltd was the photo of the model in Bill Horan's Military Modelling Masterclass book and doing some reading on British colonial campaigns in the Victorian era.

And yes, I know I've left off the sword knot, I've only just noticed :eek::eek:

    Roger,

Excellent painting mate. In 2 or 3 dimensions, your painting is inspiring. Your figure will be my inspiration when it comes to painting my version of this kit.

Cheers Tony, Here's a couple more shots that include the sword knot.... now I've stuck it on :D

It's a great kit, the only thing I found a bit fiddly was the sabre & sabretache slings but I always have done.

Thanks Mark. My main interest will remain flat figures but a round one every now and again is likely. :)

    Hi Roger

I think you have learned many things from your flat painting for your round painting (what a sentence :p)

Nice figure and then from 30mm flat to 120mm round. Not bad

    Hi Roger,
the figure is excellent, very good painting but it is not from Michael Roberts...This is a 120mm Roll Call peice sculpted by Maurice Corry RC-03 Officer 10th Hussars Sudan 1884.
    A beautiful peice of sculpting.
    Regards
    Pete
