I've just received this from Stormtrooper Miniatures and is sculpted by Greg Girault.

A 1/9 scale bust of Albert Ball VC.

I was impressed by the packaging (which I have included in my photo's) I could use it as a sturdy sandwich box.

The figure itself came with photos of the subject which will come in useful during the painting.

The figure itself came in four parts, head, body, and two arms, all of which needed only a very small amount of work prior to assembly.

What I also like about the figure is the amount of detail that has gone into the texture of the uniform and more so the leather jacket.

The painting starts tomorrow and I will be posting pictures of the progress in due course.

Very nicely sculpted. It's more a half figure than a bust and could do with some legs!

Hi Carl

Great to see you posting

Nice looking piece there and as a young 2nd Lt ...no wings showing ...obviously based on a period picture

Look forward to seeing more on this particularly how you deal with the uniform

Yup. no wings ..then .. excellent photo of him suggests it was before he got his wings at the start of his training. Still done as you may not complete .. one way or another.

As Blackadder and Biggles would tell you.

When I joined my first Army Air Corps Squadron in 1961, in an Auster AOP Mk 9 after a 9month course nonoe told me I was replacing one who had died in an accident. I found out after my prang 3 months later. I was quickly shortly after .. found 30 years later moved with my wife to another MQ! We had been put in HIS MQ!

One of my fellow trainees disappeared over the Malayan Jungle ..found 30 years later. One Lost a lot of friend in the Cold War.

WW1 life expectations were far worse .. lucky to survive to get your wings.

Our hobby is a memorial to many people over the ages.

Young Albert looks barely 18.
