(y), At 1/35th, this is absolutely great work. :D. (Perhaps tone down the highlights on the fingers), as they appear a little skeletal, and over accentuated. Other than this, my eyes or 'Popping'. Superb work!

    Regards,

    Mark.

    Hello Mark:
Thank you Sir, for taking time to post your
most welcomed response. I do so appreciate it.
This figure was completed a number of years ago.
And I believe I started it to get better with terrain.
Wow, you do have good eyesight, Mark. Your
comment about the fingers, as seen in the first
photo with my hand in the background is right on
the money. I will keep that in minds for future
1:35th scale figures. For me, the most difficult
part is trying to paint in the iris and the catchlight.
Sometimes — as I use acrylics for that, as there is no
buildup of the paint — I have to repaint the eyes
5 or 6 times. And that is with an Opti-visor of
    course. Thanks again, Jayhawker

Your work is out-standing, with a superb basing! and everything else. My jaw dropped at seeing this work. Twas, just the 'Pinkie's'. (Fingers)... that pulled my eye away from the rest of your work.

    You are good!;)

Smashing work.Very reminiscent of many photos of charging Tommies.
Not being a student of the period I have always thought of El Alamein as being an entirely 'sand' landscape but given that the area is coastal and the second battle was fought Oct / Nov the colours are perfectly feasible.
The painting of the whole piece is perfectly balanced. The label gives all the info needed, particularly useful when on display.
    Cheers

    Hello Derek:
And thank you for your kind comments. You
know, Derek, I did think about the type of terrain
in that desert part of North Africa, and like most
I figured, it would be more like the Sahara, which
is somewhat further West. So the more I thought
about it, I decided that there would be uneven
ground, and some appearance of scrub brush.
And lastly, I'm a contest modeler. And this
figure was put in several contest, here in the
American Heartland. And my feeling is that
height does attract attention on a category
table. Plus with modeling, I try to remeber
that the world isn't flat, in most places! :)

Well Chippy, Hello there my friend. It is
so good of you to take time to comment. I
still haven't figured out how to add a quote
from one of the responders. But hopefully,
I'll catch on soon. But wouldn't you know, that
above I misspelled the word sobriquet, in my reply
to Richard! Not too kewl, Cartman. I probably
should have just written "nick name" . Oh well. . . .
Have a great week, Gordon. I like your

    Hi Rick,
Nice piece and nice groundwork.(y) I re-watched the Desert Rats a few weeks ago with Richard Burton and Robert Newton and your setting of the groundwork is very reminiscent of that. Well done.
    cheers

    Hello Richie:
Oh my, Robert Newton was one of my
all time favorite character actors. Quite a career
he had. And thank you for taking time to post
your thread here. I appreciate the fact of you
brought up that information about the terrain
of Eastern North Africa. Wishing you well,
    Rick
