for a pal of mine wanting to replace a head on a figure he has to make it different..

rough outlining the general shape - ugh! nearly had to break out the Dremel
    [IMG]

added in major 'anchor' points, chin, brow, jaw muscles and nose..

roughed in basic mouth mostly shaping while putty is still soft..

some refining and smoothing, much more to go

Hope the work load is evening out and we'll see more SBS in future. Your very methodical approach to the craft is instructive!

    German 1/12 head -Completed

    all done!
It was a kind of typical 'greco-heroic' style head without much of a signature feature but still fun to do even at this accelerated pace (for me ;) ) I did after all have to break out the dremel  to cut the top of the head off to fit the helm. The fifth picture shows the original head from the kit. The client (Mrosko) wanted to replace it with one unique so I'll get to see it painted (y)

Very cool Gordy - I love the ears.

When you say "accelerated pace" how long are we talking about here?

Nice work Gordy, I still can't get over how you carve the ears

I recognise that original face, this is for that great figure (Japanese firm?) holding the G43 isn't it?

    hmmm... ;)

I started it Monday and did a couple hours per night, i wasn't too happy with the ears since i just ran through them really quick at the eleventh hour!

yes that is the figure in question, one of the finest sculpts and castings i've ever seen, any idea of whom the sculptor is?

Thanks gain for all the kind words :)
