Cheers Nap. just waiting for some gold twisted thread for the final 'flappy' things. The supplied 'wire' is way to thick to twist together, would end up looking like rope!

Did you use picture hanging wire for the cords?
Short answer; Nope.

Long answer; there was a piece of lead wire in the kit, which I thought would be too thick, so ordered some twisted gold thread, with the idea to coat it in superglue to hold position, but for some reason it didn't work. Have used that method before on some other string and it worked fine. So I took another look at the wire, started twisting it together and somehow it got thinner when twisted, so ended up using that.

Interesting. The reason that I asked is that I have used 3mm brass picture wire and it bends and holds it's shape well and has a texture that is a reasonable imitiation of braid. Worth a look...and cheap. I got mine at the local branch of Hobbycraft, if you have one near you it's worth a rummage around.

Fantastic work! And considering the rough start, really an inspiration to see what the combination of skill, dedication and perseverance can achieve.
