    A Pyle Pirate

Something easily altered in digital, especially if you keep pieces seperate and not merge them with others right away. I'll get around to tweaking them as soon as I get his overcoat sorted out as I've yet to get it just the way I want it.

    A Pyle Pirate

Refined the hair a bit more and added the ties for the neckerchief and headscarf. I have to add some buttonholes to the waistcoat and coat, along with tweaking the position of the buttons. Still sorting out ways to approach the collar for the heavy overcoat.

    Hands and heads

There are a lot of free "base mesh" files for free out there and others that won't cost you much. Check out the "store" site for Artstation as they have a number of meshes available. www.artstation.com

    A Pyle Pirate

Quang, there different "materials" and brushes available for Zbrush if you wanted your piece to have that lose traditionally sculpted look. Great hearing from you.

    The Art of JOHN ROSENGRANT

Interestingly enough Benedict Arnold more than likely wore the scarlet faced buff coat of the 2nd Company of Connecticut Guards as the Continental Army had yet to adopt uniforms for officers.

    A Pyle Pirate

Several years ago, I sculpted this pirate bust based on a pen and ink sketch by illustrator Howard Pyle. The first few photos show the sketch along with a sculpey "sketch" and then the actual bust in putty as looked when it was later produced by Michael Roberts Ltd. I really enjoyed sculpting...

    Charles-Claude Meuziau

Fantastic sculpture. It'll be a beauty with paint on it.

    Beautiful figures, so well done.

    Making a mannequin

I've never used Blender (though I have it) so I'm no help there. Another suggestion would be to find a nude figure base mesh and use the torso, pelvis, and possibly the feet. You could scale them accordingly and print up a number of copies.

    NEW !! Sgt USMC 1836

Thanks for catching the typo. As for kit prices maybe the vendor of the larger kit chose their selling price as it is a much older kit which more than likely peaked at the numbers that could be sold when it was produced by a former vendor/owner. If instead 0f $40.95 they raised the price...

    NEW !! Sgt USMC 1836

I think it usual to comment on the price of a kit made 10+ years ago verses a smaller scale kit made today. Unfortunately, unless it's a flea market environment good luck paying 2000 or 1990s prices for a figure. Look at any number of online vendors and you may get a healthy dose of sticker...

    Polish Legion Ulan

I imported the head from the file I purchased into zbrush for the alterations. My stl file is of the Uhlan that Nap has pictured on his posting.

    ACW Union (Federal) Cavalry Bugler

Thanks Nap. The cords, especially those wrapped around the upper part of the bugle were a source of frustration to make. I did make them over again and am still not 100% pleased with them. It's time to give them another try so breaking it down into parts is easier.

    ACW Union (Federal) Cavalry Bugler

I believe this is done. I have a few touch ups here and there and then just have to break it down into a few parts.

    Polish Legion Ulan

Nap, Great job on the bust. I purchased and downloaded the stl file for the kit. While it was well done I thought the face was missing something so I went about "converting" the face with Zbrush.
