An undercoat of silver acrylic Citadel paint, and then a mix of black and burnt umber oils, painted on without any thinner. Then i remove the oils with a kitchen towel until i get the desired effect. Then highlighted with silver printers ink.

Yes Brian it's a cracker, soon as I seen it I was wondering how did he tackle the armour, then as though by magic the answer appeared, I am using oils and I too will give it a try, did you brush on the silver or use airbrush?

I just brushed on the silver ,as i don't own an airbrush.I've tried all different types of acrylic silver over the years ,but i still prefer Citadels Chainmail, which is re- named Leadbelcher.I use this because it doesn't show up brush marks, like some of the others do.A couple of coats should do it using a fairly large brush.

Thanks Brian, I have an Airbrush but can't be bothered with setting up and cleaning up if working on figures or a bust so brushing on is music to my ears, I am working on a Hospitaller bust at the moment and at the metals stage now, not happy with my results so I have the Citadel leadbelcher and the oils so worth a try.
