Every advanced museum having a WW1 section would simply LOVE to have, and display, this !!!

I did contact the IWM London a few years ago and got no response. The NAM London won’t touch loans. I haven’t tried recently since they got famous.

I've added some 'warm' LEDs to my dugout. They sit behind a couple of thamps that I made.
Each section has a strip of 'cool' LEDs at the front of its top skin. (see last photo).

How many superlatives are available in English to compliment you on your craftsmanship, original design concepts and thorough research?

    Not a farthing Andy.

This might be a little 'over the top' , but having recently seen Sir Peter Jackson's film and knowing about his WW1 aircraft model-making firm - - would like to see you and he spend a few minutes together. I think some sparks would fly.

    All the best,

I was still locked in to the old thread, and have only just tuned in to this one.- apologies for being late.
This stuff is absolutely magical - compelling history, wonderful modelling, it has everything.

What's going to eventually happen to all the bits? Has any museum expressed an interest in setting up an exhibit of all of the 'boxes'?

    All the best,

    Thank you guys.

Things have been conspiring against me to work on the sections recently - not all bad though. My book text is almost complete but the models aren't! I had 2 weeks off work with a fractured foot, having fallen down a bottom step at Euro. I was carrying the sections and my trench diorama, so damaged my foot to save them! They survived with tiny damage. I worked on the book with my enforced rest and the text is virtually finished. I have got a couple of figures ready to post to New Zealand but wanted to get a base made for Mike that I had promised him to go at the same time. I have a couple of other things to do, but will get back to the sections asap. My book contract says that I have to be ready Sept 2020 so I have loads of time.

(I've been back in my house nearly a year now, but the problems continue because cowboy builders were involved. The main issue is a 5ft length of ceiling coving fell off onto a bed! We are waiting to find out whether all the coving has to be replaced - 3 bedrooms, the hallway and the through lounge!!! if that all comes down then there will be redecoration everywhere.........?)

As for museums, I'm not sure. Anyone who's been to the IWM won't have seen their one trench model, because its displayed at ankle height so hidden from view???? I'm not a fan of what they did to the museum which I used to love. Most of what I went to see went to Duxford or storage. I was told the old museum was "too cluttered" - the clutter I went to see! The National Army Museum, London is even worse and I will only bother to go when I have children to take. This generation of museums rely on technology rather than models, which aren't really favoured. My models may go to a museum, but I will choose it when they are finished. I'll get off my soap box now that I've had my rant. Sorry!

sorry to hear about your accident. Just remember: pain is temporary, your trench sections are forever.
All joking aside, hope you recover quickly, and keep us informed about your book: sounds really interesting, so keep a copy ready for me, please

    Thanks LH.
I thought I'd post a quick update (for those who haven't seen on Scale Models Forum) where I'm at with the models.
This is the sections displayed at Euro in May.

My 1:285 diorama was next to them.

The German MG bunker is needing the groundwork finishing, the figures painted and things like ammo boxed completed.
(There's an LED next to the MG which will be covered by a lamp.)
    IMG_3937.JPG

    Uncompleted groundwork.
    IMG_3939.JPG

My mine is still in an early stage (I had to pull it apart when I realised that I couldn't get kneeling figure in the tunnels!)
This guy is 'tamping'. filling the tunnel with sandbag walls so the explosion goes up and not back up the tunnel.
    IMG_3953.JPG

Here's my 'clay-kicker'. You will see where I had to gain extra height top and bottom to allow kneeling figures.
    IMG_3965.JPG

I've filled earth between the timbers and made a 'grafting' spade. That will end up between his legs of course.

Superb in concept and execution. The detail is excellent. These trench segments should be included in any text book about that aspect of WWI, in my opinion.
