    Hi All,

Here's a model I built a few months ago for my local model club's June themed build of something Blue. This is the Kingfisher from Robot Rocket Miniatures. The kit is very well sculpted & cast. As the kit comes with 2 fish (1 in its mouth & 1 separate) I decided I wanted to have a go at putting it in resin water. This is the first time I have tried this kind of water effect. I made the base to the shape I wanted & used poly filler, grass tufts, fish tank stones, natural twigs & hand brush bristles (for the wild grass) to build up the groundwork. Once I had everything in place & sealed all the edges with acetate, I added Deluxe materials solid water to make the water effect. I mixed it up and poured it in one go. I left it for a couple of days to fully cure and peeled away the acetate to find it had worked. I had a small leakage where it wasnt quite sealed enough, but nothing major. I then added deluxe materials making waves on top of the resin water to add a bit of current to it. I was really pleased how it turned out for my first go. The Kingfisher & fish were painted in Vallejo / Scale75 acrylics, Darkstar metallic's were used on the fish also.

I must say I have been modelling for about 18 years now, & I think this was one of the most enjoyable & rewarding models I have done. It was nice to do something different. I would highly recommend this model to anyone.

Hope you like it. Comments welcome.

    Cheers

    Steve

Lovely little scene, great presentation and brilliant work with the resin it’s always daunting pouring such a deep section of the vignette. Very well done indeed. :)

I love it!!! I fell in love with this kit and bought it a couple of months ago. I had a similar idea for it, but the work for the base scares me a little... Congratulations for your work!!
