Having seen sketches and images depicting a Battle from the Lombardy Wars in 1440, the lost Leonardo deVinci sketch copy by Peter Rubens has become the inspiration for my latest work in 1/35. I’m using references of medieval armour from Venice and Milan as scratch building guide.

I’m using some Masterbox horses and miniart figures converted as the basis for the work then resculpting them all scratch making armour, weapons and filling in details with putty.

You're mad you are... but in a nice way :wacky:

Fantastic start: what's the white material used for the armour (heat formed/moulded plastic?)

    Thanks Neil,

Re the white plastic. Yes, heated styrene sheet formed over a head and torso, just experimenting on what is possible. Mixing different techniques in the scene to see what I can do.

Anything as ambitious and complex as this is outside my skill-set, but I really enjoy seeing stuff like this come together from guys with such talent and patience. Will be following with interest.

Yes, I guessed as much. Similar to the technique we used to use to mould canopies for aircraft conversions. I've been trying something similar for my 1/12th mounted samurai (that's been sat in a box for 40+ years!).

Before pulling the heated plastic over the former I covered the shape in-tin foil as also plastic, the thin heated plastic temperature reduces in seconds and you have but seconds to create the shape, might take half a dozen goes to get right but it’s only a bit of styrene sheet. Some people use scrap packaging for the same including clear plastic for moulding canopies etc, but not tried that.

Here is a perfect example, in my humble opinion
of an artist that raises our hobby in to a "Work of
    Art". Just incredibly beautiful. Congratulations,
