This looks splendid and can't wait to see it progress. Being such a slow painter, I wouldn't dare touch a piece like this!! Don't forget that the Life Guard's helmet peak is all brass. Regards Pete

Couple of pics taken after work...(roll on retirement) still looks better in the flesh as it were, the horse will be a dark bay, the black on the lower legs will go a lot higher but change to Brown's

Big brown glossy eyes with a flecks of white in the corners for powerful fearful look.

Started to colour up..... could take some time this.

I will post as much as I can on this part.
I am using brown oxide at this point, as I go along some areas will get darker as I leave others light.

Slowly building up the colour, looks a lot better colour wise in the flesh but hopefully you get the idea.

a nice warm brown. Can you give us a hint as what paints you have used to build up this colour?

    Thanks for interest guys.
As for colour after primer I based it in yellow orcher.
When dry I used brown madder, this is now being over laid with brown oxide and this in turn will be over laid with varying mixes of brown oxide and black.

To be honest pictures do not show the true colour which looks a lot darker.

    Bit of an update

Starting to add detail, the colours show a bit brighter than what they really are.

Long way to go so will start other rider and another project to help momentum.
