As you look forward to a nice Citroen meeting with a common exit, a cozy restaurant visit and interesting gasoline talks in the most beautiful weather - and then happens this...:

Ooooppps !! I hope it can be replaced/repaired, Martin......what an absolute bugger :( As Edmund Blackadder says, " My path is beset by the giant cowpats deposited by the devil's own incontinent herd ".

Maybe you should just count your blessings Martin, and be thankful it wasn't the muffler bearings. Those can be a real PITA to replace. ( if you can find em). Sure is nice looking car though.

Short update from my "permanent construction site":

In the past few months I have completely dismantled the engine in a friend's workshop ...

... and bought everything new that had any signs of wear - lioke this ventiles...
...or had to be replaced for another reason!

Engine block and everything else is cleaned with a steam jet (after previous "Caramba" bathing orgies), ALL oil channels are free again!
Now I can turn the previously totally dirty (and correspondingly stiff) oil pump...
...with two fingers, not as before with heavy equipment (pipe wrench)...:

The bad news: Before Christmas I had to give the crankshaft for grinding / balancing, I can't do that myself - and that will cost extra. ** sigh **

Meanwhile, the two large construction sites of the car are slowly taking shape:

I got body parts for cheap money in Switzerland last summer to remove the bulky trunk ceilings that were added later at the factory (which totally messed up the elegant lines of the car!) And instead to install the old original flap with the spare wheel on it.

The next picture shows the difference: on the right with the trunk lid, on the left with the spare wheel cover - and the beautiful old curly bumpers ...:

That is what a carosseriebuilder from Poland does who really understands his craft.

This is what my "Traction Avant" looked like last summer when it lay still ...:

    ... and so today ...:

And in one fell swoop the car looks much lighter and more elegant ...

Wheew……..Damn Martin...….I thought you were the one that blew a gasket. Flip the dials my friend; what's more important; a Citroen taking a crap or dropping perfectly painted piglet on it's ear?...……..all in all, I hope all works out well.

Martin, It is nice to see you have the room and clean area to lay out all the parts. It makes the repairs go so much easier. Looks like you and your support people know what they are doing. The final result should be fabulous. I do feel for you with the wait to get all back together and be "on the road again".

    Well Martin
Judging by the gunged up oil on the valves you haven't been changing the oil at the specified intervals

    Update:

The conversion of the body was finished today!

The painter did a great job!
And the new bumpers also look good on the car!

My car has great "company"! A Corvette, a T-Bird, an E-Type, a Renault "Alpine" racing car, a "Cobra" - and at the very front a FIAT "Topolino" ...

In the front of the engine compartment there is still a yawning emptiness!

I am progressing bit by bit with the assembly - but that is more work than initially thought ...
