    Hello,

I wanted to show my recent diorama, of a M52 truck, based in the 8th Transportation group in Vietnam 1969. I used two Bravo 6 figures making a refuelling scene.

I painted one caucasian and the other as a black man, my first attempt on black skin tone, which I like it how it turned out. I am now ready to make similar skin tone on my Pegaso Models Vietnam 90mm figure (Andrea Jula sculpt).

Used Oils over acrylics for both skin tones, as my usual technique.

    Let me know your toughts,
    Best
    Julian

    Nicely done.
If I may, I would consider adding some of their personal equipment (helmets, rifles, etc) and perhaps a 3rd guy standing guard or "supervising". In the military, there is always a guy "supervising"... :D

It was added inside the cabin, but not visible now without a flashlight. I tought about a 3rd guy, but saved for another scene. Thanks !

    Cool
I was thinking that the guy on the right in this pic would be perfect. The guy carrying the gas can could be looking at him as if saying "thanks for the help" or "you realize this is gas, right?" I always like odd numbers of figs. Again. well done, looks great.

I considered Bravo 6 mohawk figure with a rifle, but I liked the more "guns free" look of the scene. Next time will add 3 ! My next big diorama is a Vomag Ausf 88 in 1/35 with some 7-9 figures from Evolution Miniatures.

Very nice work. Very impressive. I disagree with the number of figures. I think two is enough in this case. But only my opinion.
How did you do the paving stones of the road ? Stone by stone ? It looks very realistic.
Looking at your diorama makes me want to make 54mm dioramas again.

    Thanks Robert !

The paving area was done with Greenstuff World texture rolling pins over epoxy, added a few hand made missing areas (small holes) and the transition to the terrain area near the trees and the temple.
The truck is like resting just outside the paved area.

I used the rolling pins on another build, and did a small review article :

Thank You Julian. Didn't know these rolling pins before. What an idea !
And your article about your RSO diorama is very interesting and most instructive.

    Thanks Bud, I love these.

I usually make my models with Friul Tracks and DEF Resin wheels, and those add ons cannot be hidden under heavy mud / weathering, so this kind of terrain texture makes it easier not to load the tracks and wheels too much, otherwise they might not integrate the scene that well. I need to get more patterns soon...

    Hi!
    Yes, everything fits together nicely.
Two figures are fine, although even one would have been enough. You have to be very careful about your composition the more figures you have.
Concerning your black skin tones, you should add some purple when you paint the shadows. Gives it more depth and works surprisingly well.

PS Love your truck as well!

Thanks ! Can you show me the benefits of adding purple to the mix on your own work ?
