It should not be forgotten that Offo has at least (!) half of the success as "Kolja", "Aksinja" and "Grigory" would not exist without his sulpting art!!!

And some bad news at the end of this post...:

    Finis Ducem Baraviae!

This year's 19th HvB was the last one - because of declining visitor numbers and a changed conception of the host "Bavarian Army Museum".

For me, this was the 13th HvB and I 'm very sad there will be no other! Although it is from Bremen a miserably long journey (round trip over 1,300 km) I have not regretted any minute of my visits there!

    Pity that!

    Dear friends,
all things in the world will eventually come to an end.
For 19 years we spent many beautiful hours with you in the Bavarian Army Museum, experienced a lot and admired beautiful figures together.
But in a changing environment with many shows and in changing rooms here in the museum, we can no longer continue this concept in deep friendly agreement with the museum. To avoid rumours, there is no quarrel, neither in the association nor with the museum.
2019 was the last "Duke of Bavaria" here in Ingolstadt.
As a support association, we will continue our cooperation with the Bavarian Army Museum in friendly relationship and perhaps a new concept with new challenges and a new name will emerge. We will let you know.
    But that is the future.
We would like to thank you for your loyalty, friendship and support over many years.
We have always been an event that put the family meeting of like-minded people before the hard competition and you accepted and supported this concept.
You have all made the Duke of Bavaria what he is today.
Thank you again for this wonderful time with many great people.
But we hope to meet you again and again at events. We will all stay faithful to the hobby.
Stay healthy and keep the memories of the Duke alive.
Of course we will soon publish the pictures of the last "Duke", both here on Facebook and on our homepage. Please give us some more time.
    With kind regards from Ingolstadt!

It has clearly been a very hard decision for Carsten and the others involved with making HvB one of the best run and friendliest international shows anywhere.
Davie Mitchell and myself attended as usual and as always thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. There was however a different 'feel' to the event. a bit like becoming aware that a friend had suddenly become old. The venue, the castle and base of the Bavarian Army Museum, was spectacular but given that it naturally had it's own plans, exhibitions, developments etc the show could not establish a consistent weekend date.
This inevitably brought challenges of clashes with other shows at a time of year where there is a glut of shows in mainland europe and indeed MFCA in the states.
Ending the show was the right thing to do whilst memories are still positive and we don't have the scenario of a slow 'death' .:arghh:
Hopefully in the future a new figure show will rise in Bavaria (preferably as in Ingolstadt in a venue where the excellent local food market sells beer at 2Euro a pint ;)(y).
This decision should give the very talented painters who organised and managed the show more time to produce work of their own and I look forward to catching up with them at next years World Expo.
    Thanks guys.

Very sad news indeed, but have to agree with Derek on his comments. We have attended the show many times and saw a significant change this year, although we still had a very enjoyable time at the show.I would like to thank organisers for all their hard work over many years and wish them well for the future. Cheers David

I'll say the same thing I said on this topic over at the HZ-Forum: "...last "Duke of Bavaria" here in Ingolstadt." does not mean, "...last
Duke of Bavaria' overall." I wouldn't start carving a headstone just yet.

    Prost!
