    I’m pleased to announce the latest figures in the Tommy’s War range. This release looks at the impact of the United States joining the war effort with their huge industrial might and one of the first major battles that they took part, at Belleau Wood in June 1918.

    The release will consist of two parts (or ‘waves’ as I’m calling them).
    Belleau Wood – Wave One, in-stock and available NOW
    • TW32AL02 – First Lieutenant, 2/5 US Marine Corps, Belleau Wood 1918 – available to purchase <here>
    • TW32AL03 – Private (1), 2/5 US Marine Corps, Belleau Wood 1918 – available to purchase <here>
    • TW32CP14 – Private (1) 461st Infanterie Regiment, Belleau Wood 1918 – available to purchase <here>
    • TW32CP15 – Private (2) 461st Infanterie Regiment, Belleau Wood 1918 – available to purchase <here>
    All figures are 1/32 scale and sculpted by Nino Pizzichemi. Box art is by Alex Long
    Please note that all four of the wave one figures are in-stock and available to purchase NOW.
    Belleau Wood – Wave Two Autumn 2019
    Estimate for release in late summer/Autumn 2019 comprising;
    • TW32AL04 – Private (2), 2/5 US Marine Corps, Belleau Wood 1918 (Chauchat machine gunner)
    • TW32AL05 – Private (3), 2/5 US Marine Corps, Belleau Wood 1918
    • TW32CP16 – Private (3) 461st Infanterie Regiment, Belleau Wood 1918
    • TW32CP17 – Private (4) 461st Infanterie Regiment, Belleau Wood 1918
    All figures are 1/32 scale and sculpted by Nino Pizzichemi. Masters are now complete and will be sent for production shortly.
    The figures are all based by an outstanding illustration by Peter Dennis which can be found in the Osprey Campaign book; Chateau Thierry and Belleau Wood 1918.
    If you’re planning on buying all four of Wave One then I suggest you consider joining the Tommy’s War Collectors Club <here> and taking advantage of the 20% discount once you are registered.

    I think it helps to see how the four figures interact in pairs;

    And then how they come together to create a scene;

    Of course, you can see all the individual images for each figure by going to their pages on the store on this website. If you want to see more images information then also search for Tommy’s War on social media.
    I look bringing you more great figures soon!

    Lovely little interactive grouping there, should be popular and keep you busy buying postage stamps.

    Thank you for the kind comments, they are always very much appreciated!

    With regards to producing figures in larger scales. I do get asked this occasionally. The situation with Tommy's War is that it's a business I run in my free time outside of work. I have a busy career, a family and other interests so Tommy's War is what it is. I like working with my sculptor, Nino, and I like 1/32 scale, and we've no plans for anything other than continuing in that scale.

    Nice additions to the line especially the marines. I stand to be corrected, but the marines had a crown and anchor badge attached to their helmets did they not?

    The bloody carnage lasted from 1 to 26 June 1918.

    Nothing is known about the amount of German casualties, as an unknown number of German detachments of four previously battered divisions (10th, 28th, 197th, 87th, and 237th) were entrenched in the wooded area near Chateau Thiery measuring only 2.6 square kilometers.

    1,600 Germans were captured.

    The Marines lost 9,777 soldiers, of which 1,811 dead. This was the highest loss of soldiers in a battle during their participation in the First World War for the Americans.

    The Hollywood-film "The lost battallion" shows the fight between the Doughboys and the Sturmtruppen.

    The fight between a Marine Officer and a German Officer in Belleau Woods. This is just one of many, many life size vignettes at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. I believe this vignette was inspired by Capt John Thomason's sketch in his book Fix Bayonets. I've often thought this would make a great miniature vignette as would the sketch titled "A Swirl of Senegalese" Thomason states " with reason the Boche feared them worse than anything living." Love the caption about the "Iron souled Prussians". IMG_0001 (2).jpg IMG_0002 (2).jpg IMG_0003 (2).jpg IMG_0003 (2).jpg Quantico 036.jpg
