160mm Greek Peltast

    Hi, this is my 160mm Greek Peltast. Originaly Thracian, they were adopted as skirmishers, by the Greek army. A light infantry in contrast to the Hoplites that were the heavy infantry they use to attack.

    Well; this is my interpretation of a Peltast:

    Nap; to tell you the trust, the figure is already sculpted and painted. It has no clothings but of course, it has the Pelte, made of woven wicker I really wanted to give it the idea of LIGH infantry (very light). It was the excuse for sculpting a nude human body, that I considered a chanllenge in itself.

    This is the crescent-shaped wicker shield, the pelte, from which the peltast takes its name:

    Wonderful idea. Looks like a very dynamic piece inline with the ancient Greek and Roman cultural preferences of depicting athletes.

    I painted the body separate from the head:
