Are you saying one cannot mix colors with acrylic paints?

No, I'm not saying that. But with a abundance at coloursets these days it is not so unkoming that most people are stopping with mixing and grab this kind of easyness.

One could make the assumption that modellers are unable to mix acrylics-how else would they be able to milk the market in this way.? Good luck to them it is what good marketing is about, pity the guys who think it is the panacea for good painting.

If you are starting out it makes things easier. Which you can then use for other uses once you get more experienced.

Blonde hair with black roots? Black hair with grey roots? Special skin tones for scalp with thinning hair?

Still - someone must buy those sets or they would not be economically feasible.

Paint sets are pretty neat because they separate the colors for all to see in a box of a specific range of colors. Place these bottles in a box and one doesn't know where the colors are.

The problem I find with Paint Set is that the box is often flimsy. Open one end and all the bottles come spilling out because there's no cardboard insert tab for instance.

Which begs the question...there are custom plastic boxes for paint bottles with foam inserts, but still, one sees the bottles from the top and I still have no idea what the colors are because I can't see the paint.

What needs to be created is a paint box that shows the colors from the side of the bottle, perhaps with a color chip so that one can insert bottles into the proper color chip slot. Recall that some modelers have more than one bottle of the same color, so having one slot of that color might be OK or not. It takes time to find the proper bottle with the proper paint in a box of bottles---there has to be an easier way.
