    HAPPY NEW YEAR PLANETEERS !!

Hello, one of the things peoples asks me more is- how to paint the eyes?
The theory is quite simple, but … the problem is, in point of view that the eyes need a big precision, and that is the biggest problem, because it requires patience and a firm hand.
To help you, I made a little tutorial –level 1- all references come from Vallejo range

    1.JPG 2.JPG
I´ve painted the skin only enough to give an idea, remember this is a study only, I did not intended to make a complete painted figure, ok

    3.JPG 3A.JPG

1- The inside of the eye is painted with last Highlight of the skin Flat Flesh 70.955+Deck Tan 70.986 inside to make the white part of the eyes

1- I apply a glaze of Magenta 70.945 diluted 85%, inside the eye

    4.JPG 5.JPG

1- Now with a mix of Black 70.950 + Flatt earth 70.983, don´t dilute too much, to control better the trace, make the right eye of the figure first, only to define the round shape and size
    6B.JPG 6C.JPG
1- Then do the left one, so you can guide yourself by the right one, and make both eyes similar in size and shape. If you are left handed inverse the order
    7.JPG 7a.JPG

The result should be both eyes similar as a dark spot, similar in size and shape

    9.JPG

In this Spot I apply one highlight with Flatt earth, but we can´t see very well because brown is a dark colour (sorry)

    10D.JPG 10E.JPG

Next I add a small black dot on the center of the eye, to make the iris, and on the left corner I add a small white dot, made with Ivory 70.918 the make the reflex of light. Remember to make this white dot on the same side, logically

    10-1.JPG 10-1A.JPG

To finish I make a very light line, with matt flesh +ivory, on the lower eyelid - like a highlight or reflex light

    11.JPG 11b.JPG

And a black line with black on the upper eyelid, to simulate the eyelashes. This one should be made only on the upper part, to look real- otherwise you make a “Egyptian” eye

    12.JPG 12A.JPG

It´s time to make the eyebrows, to look more real

And for the final photos I decorate a little bit the hat to give him more life

Hope this article can be usefull for you, and in some way can help you in your next projects ...

So sorry to say this, but ... white eye balls are awfull , actually they give a "astonished" look like to the figure, and unless he is running like a fool from the enemy this look don´t match the majority of figures.
I allways paint the eyes at the end. 1st I paint the skin and at the end I use the last high light and had him a bit of Ivory or, light flesh or deck tan and its the colour I use for the "white" part wish if you observe in most poples isn´t white, and if you are tired worst .
