    Hi P'fers,

Finished my sculpt/paint project. Sculpted mainly in supersculpey medium, plus some Greenstuff and Milliput blends. Painted in mostly acrylics and a oils. 120mm figure depicting the 1st/24th foot at Isandhlwana on the 22nd of June, 1879.

    Cheers
    Stoffy.

This has been superbly sculpted, painted and displayed. My only other thought would be that in such close quarter combat, he would have a bayonet fitted.

Good point Mike, the figure represents the British starting to fall back in good order to camp. The Zulu are still a bit of a distance at this stage, and fixing bayonets hadn't been ordered yet.

According to contemporary reports, the one British weapon the Zulus respected was the 22" Martini Henry bayonet (sergeants had sword bayonets).

    Hi there Chris

Great to see the sculpt finished and now painted , looks good particularly like the fact he's reloading the weapon

    Thanks for sharing

Look forward to seeing what's next

    Happy benchtime

Very nice work and as said above, would be a great commercial piece.

I'd have maybe had him on a slightly smaller base, but I'm guessing the intention might be to show that the firing lines of the 24th were strung out relatively thinly?

    Hi Malc,
My apologies for not getting back sooner. Thank you, and yes, there's a strong possibility of producing both a 24th foot and Zulu warrior commercially in the future. When that might be, I can't tell you at this stage.
    Warm Regards
    Chris.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks mate, and yes I will be seriously looking at revisiting both a 24th and a Zulu Warrior commercially in the future :)

    Warm Regards
    Chris.

    Hi Chrisr,

Thanks you very much, glad you like this old project of mine. It's nice to look back at these and see how things have changed in my work. I am a big fan of this period, and I will most definitely look at another project or two. And now that I have started producing some figures and busts commercially would love to add something like this in.

    Warm Regards
    Chris
