From the range of Mitches Military Models, this 200mm drummer at rest, is painted in oils over enamel basecoat as usual.
For me was quite difficult to coordinate the accurate pose of the miniature, and pinning it right, because of the four (!) points of contact with the scenic and its base (two legs on the base, right arm and back on the fence). After lot of tests, I found his right position, keeping in mind that should stand at rest, not entirely upright but not sloping neither.
Because of its size, was a really pleasure to paint it as a 3D canvas and not as a regular miniature. Actually, it's the first time I paint a big bust ...with legs ! It was a real fun for me the painting of the royal monogram at the drum, too. There, I left my brush free for an "artistic" scheme of it.
