Difficult to get an accurate perspective when the pics are skewed....and inserting the pics as 'thumbnails' gives a far better impression to the viewer IMHO
From what I can make out...the blends need softening a touch....and...personally...I preferred it before the added contrast.

Yes, the last pics are sideways, but I think you are doing an excellent job on this piece. Agree with Ron on the facial blends. Looking very good though.

Ron and Wayne thanks for the input. I have a new phone and it seems to upload everything that way round on here, I will try and fix it when I can. I added the contrast as in person the face seemed a little too flat. I'll try and sort some better photos in daylight .

Here are some daylight photos.. after studying the face I will go back and work the blends a little more there is still a way to go I think before I'm happy with the face.. Also I found out cropping orientates the photo correctly so I'll do that from now on.

I found out I hate painting light fabric... it's hard to get effective shading and good coverage.. anyway I have made progress with the headband. Also beauty mode is off on the camera. So the face is closer to how it is in person. Also added highlights and details to the face

Looking good Les......and it looks so much better when the pics aren't huge...gives a much better impression of your work (y)
Have to ask...there is a small patch of different colour...at the edge of the main boss...between the two circles on the right as you look at the pic...???

    Regards

Thanks Ron, I have resized all pics in the thread for everyone as well. I have a new phone and it looked ok on a screen.
The small mark was the start of wear and tear , looks better now there's a bit more .

A quick one. I have a slight dilemma still over the cloak colour.
So far its provisionally turquoise (see pics below)
I have read that Saladin was given a black cloak to rule Egypt and there is a source I found on a history of muslim fashion post that states to start with red and green were frowned upon as frivolous colours, and then later on yellow and red became acceptable and denoted rank.. this is what I have so far but I'm open to suggestions of course.

I feel this is too bright so far. But it's a nice colour.
    Any input would be grand.

Personally I think a much darker blue would contrast nicely between the pale turban and the (bright) blue shield. At the moment cloak and shield are too closely matched in colour - but that is just my 2 cents.

Agree about the cloak needing to be darker....but think it needs to be a different darker colour....possibly an dark orange/yellow....this would split the balance between the head cloth and shield.

Hi folks, thanks for the Input, I went for a darker blue and didn't like it so ended up with a turquoise colour, different from the shield the red has been added to the undershirt and I'm heading towards completion. I'm not disregarding tips and advice I fully welcome them and appreciate the Input. Only way to improve :) anyway, here is where I am so far. The outfit is looking bright and I'm liking the vibe despite numerous false starts..
