    Hi guys,

Here's a few shots of what I've been working on. This is Pegaso's classic 54mm Mamluke, with one knee resting on his dead horse. A very dramatic and colorful piece that I've had in my GA for 15+ years. My good friend Mike Stevens just finished his version of this piece recently, as some of you will recall I'm sure. The rider is done. A few things to touch up here and there, and I will probably eventually dirty-up the pants a bit. Now it's on to the horse . . .

This is coming along great. You are doing a fine job of copying Mike's work so far. Keep it up!;)

What is the WIP that is at the heading of your thread?

Thanks Oda! I appreciate your comments, especially the one regarding the skintones. I tried to achieve a darker, "Egyptian" skin tone.

Jason, that’s an admirable bit of painting. Just as a matter of interest, the majority of Mamelukes were Circassians from the north Caucasus so may not have had the North African skin tones you’ve achieved.

Look forward to seeing the completed piece.

    Jason very good painting job...

only a small suggestion... change the way to hold the scabbard ... mameluck sword is suspended differently from the other swords...

Thanks Nap! Probably a bay on the horse, but I'm not 100% decided yet.

Thanks for the suggestion Ivo. I noticed what you have pointed out about the sword as I was doing research for this figure, but I have just assembled it the way the kit is engineered. I did see some illustrations of Mamlukes wearing the sword in the more conventional way as I have it, so I guess it is possible (or those illustrations were just totally inacurrate :) LOL).

    hi JAson

unfortunately the figure was inaccurate in something that's typical for the regiment. At my knowledge mameluke never had the "european system" for the sword.

Scimitar become very fashion for the light cavalry officer and many of them suspended the sword traditionally as for the Bonaparte below

A spendid job Jason - I think you've caught the essence of a mameluke.

    Cheers
