Painted this one a few years ago. It was released by Grenadier Miniatures, but sadely out of production now. Painted in oilpaint and printers inks. I hope you like it.

Eddy that's a beautiful job using oils, you have the managed to mix and control the colours, lovely shading and highlights with very smooth brush work and there doesn't seem to be much of a sheen from the oils (how did you get that finish), overall its a smashing result.

Terry : I let my oils soak a bit on a thick paper about 15 minutes before starting to paint, and I use White Spirit as medium, wet on wet,
with a few updates the day after.

Eddy I think that you have explained your oil painting technique to me before and I now use the same system although I find that it can be hit or miss whether they dry with a sheen or matt, on a recent project I thinned the oils down with white spirit and tried to put very little paint onto the acrylic undercoated section of the figure and I managed to get a better result although you got to be careful when adding the shadows and highlights as to much brushwork can lift the base colour but going to try this again tonight.

Lovely job to start the New Year with Eddie

Busts are not usually my 'thing' but love the feel of this one, especially the grey hair and stubble which I've never found the easiest to pull off convincingly

Thanks Steve I will grab some of that Matt Effect thinner as I would like to paint some WW1, WW2 busts but don't go near them because I can't get that matt finish and haven't managed to conquer the use of acrylics.

Grumbacher medium 1 is similar in effect..have some of the Matt effect on the way tho...remember oils aren’t generic and every brand, or even within a brand has different oil carriers. A bit of heat on drying takes out some sheen as well..just don’t cook the nasty fumes out of resin..and undercoats, humbrol, acrylics all seem to have an effect..if one follows some of Eddy’s sbs stuff he indicates the humbrol and oils mix a bit..

Guys just ordered the Matt effect from emodels so should have it by the weekend and I will post how I get on.
