Some nice offerings this month from Pegaso. I picked up the bust in September at the Euro show. I really like the Roman and the nappy piece but along with everything else sitting on the shelf just not enough time to paint it all.

Well done to Pegaso this month

Good month for Pegaso. Particularly like the Roman regardless of accuracyor not.
Must have been a helluva sized leopard.

If it wasn't stated as 90mm....I would have taken the mounted roman to be 54mm....it just doesn't look as sharp and well defined as a 90mm should IMHO

    As for the Roman:

We even know exactly from history what the horse is called, which he rides: It's name is "Bucephalos" - and it already served Alexander the Great.

...at least in the "Pegaso" world (No.PG9903) ..:

    Where's the tambourine?

I did a nameplate for this the other week and wondered what model it was.
    Now I know.
I presume that it should be "Save the Drummer Boy" or is it "Save the Drum"?

You are correct Martin and I thought the Roman's horse looked familiar but I just couldn't work out what it was!

Given the Pegaso 90mm mounted pieces are expensive quality figures, I thought it may have been a good marketing idea to give a small but fair price reduction over the cost of a complete new sculpted horse/figure in that range? I say that given the costs to produce in terms of sculpt fees (which are a significant outlay to recoup) will be significantly reduced as the horse mould is already available and long paid for.

    Just a thought!

I can't agree with you Martin about the horse.
The one with Alexander has a more streched neck, and his left frontleg is less curved into the ankle.

You have a point Marc but is it simply a slight tweak on an existing mould then? The similarities are quite overt and of course the presence of the leopard skin like the one on the ATG further supports the suggestion both horses share a common origin?

Either way it' still a nice figure !

There is another new release from Pegaso , a 200mm figure of Napoleon which is cast in resin, is this a move away from white metal or is it just due to its size ; resin would be less troublesome

I took the remarks about Bucephalos and the Roman`s horse as a joke but seriously I cannot see that the new release is copied from the old Pegaso kit other than that the idea behind the design is not a new one.
Take a closer look at the difference in balance, stance and muscles of the new release which by the way does looks less dynamic as the old Bucephalos kit IMHO.
