    Hi Folks

Bit of a Scottish theme going on here

Using the Blaber Miniatures Crimean Veteran as a base which I worked on now finished ( will post pics!! .. http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/colour-sgt-veteran-42nd-regt-black-watch.81688/

I chose to ( with a bit of dubious but welcome grinding from Jimbo ) to depict versions of these

    Drummer John Rennie 72nd Regt

The work on the sword can be seen here

    http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/scottish-basket-sword-help.82065/

Resculpted the bonnet , badge , Plume , facial hair , nose etc

Working from a blank torso added the wings , lacework , belt , medal etc

Currently working on the sword and bugle which will hang at his right side.

    image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

    Then we have

Private Harper of the Light Company 72nd Regt

Again working from a blank torso and this time just a head with original bonnet cut off ...added belt ,all buttons, crossbelt , epaulettes , medals ( Crimean British and French as in picture when blown up)

Reworked all facial hair and the undress cap

    image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Note ..the medal looks proud as there are the buttons underneath

Materials used in both ......Magic Sculpt , Milliput , fishing wire and even more swearing and coffee and patience!!

    Nap,
You really do like the smell of putty in the mornings, brave
lad, well done so far mate.

Could you look again at the photos, you will see the medals are squeezed between the outside of the buttons and the armpit, not inside the buttons as
you have done and as would be done today.
The top of the ribbons are also in line with the top point of the diamond buttons.

Ooooh!!!! stop it I am all itchy !...lol

Yes went for the bugle horn with a crown above , found out details of the guys name etc from the Victorian Wars Forum ..jolly good place to look around ...lots of info !!

He was in the Light Coy and when super enlarging the piccy it definitely looks like a bugle horn on a stitched cloth backing as well .....might do this backing in the tartan ..well it's only a tiny bit ! ..phew!!

One thing to note though a small ths is not a Royal Regt the facings so they woukd be Yellow not blue as in picture ( think the colourist was thinking elsewhere!

    Thanks for looking in

Collar will be yellow.....what's your thoughts on the epaulettes ...think they might be red with white edging and regt number 72 ( sculpted on ) and not in facing colour

Re epaulettes to be honest Im not sure Pre 1855(Tunic) issue on the coatee they would have been yellow white edging with the 72.
Post 81 they would have also yellow. but the But the 25yrs in between not sure Sorry.

    Hi folks

    Update on these fellows ....

Finshed the Bugle , not sure which shoulder to fit over !

    image.jpeg

Sword basket also finshed ...not sure if I need to add scabbard or how it looks ? ....or how it's fitted to his belt ?

Once the Valium is restocked "might" do a simpler version

    Nap,

Very nice work on these. At least, as they're busts, you won't have to paint those "colourful" trousers.

    Hi Guys

    Mick ,

Thanks for picture , he has it over his right side ... Possibly for the picture........but I like it over his left,....which is probably where it will go , sitting at the front part of of the bust on the edge with a cord leading up Nader his arm ..( not sure I made that clear!!)

Or another way as you look at him cored over the right !

    Pete

Too right they are busts !..lol ....only bit of tartan on badge backing !

    Thanks for looking in

    Greetings
you have confused me . Does this make it clearer. Cord over left shoulder, bugle on right side so it can be held in right hand.
