I started this one about a year ago but have finally got around to finishing it. It's a 54mm Aitna figure, based on the old 100mm RealModels figure sculpted by David Grieve. I always liked the Grieve figure but it's hard to get hold of and it looks quite heavy in metal at that size, so I went for this newer one instead in a scale I prefer. I used Vallejo acrylics. Hope you like it.

Nice painting. I believe Richie at 1879miniatures has rerelease a larger version of Bromhead if you're interested for future projects.

Nicely done Edward, this looks great.

The bigger original one was a right old chunky monkey of a casting,
No wonder Ritchie got right into the period is it :) ;) it painted up well though.

All the best thanks for posting this.

You have done a good job on him, he looks great. (I have the 100mm version in the display cabinet).
Might have to get this one.

    Very nice work Edward.

The 100mm version was one of the very first models I painted.

Very very nice work. The reds is perfect IMO. Just, one thing-. Why he is so clean? Why no more dirty? More powder at trousers and boots, and a little of it at jacquet please, and you have a master piece here.

Thanks a lot. I have put a bit of dirt on the jacket, trousers and boots but didn't want to overdo it. May put some more on though..

Lovely Job Edward. I always liked the Real Models Grieve figures and your 54mm version is outstanding!

    Morning Edward

Lovely job on this figure (I assumed it was the 'biggie' when I saw the pic appear on the main page - didn't realise there was a smaller one available) I'm especially fond of the way you've done the red coat - not the easiest to get right IMO.

One thing that sprang to mind was the colour of the ground; I seem to remember reading that the ground was a reddish clay colour (Perhaps Ritchie can confirm?) rather than khaki. (I may have course just dreamt that up)

Anyway another one to add to the to-do list

    Thanks guys.
Thanks Paul - interesting to know about the colour of the ground - thanks for the comment. I'd like to do another Zulu War figure and do more to the groundwork. I already have the excellent Chronos 54mm 24th Foot figure which comes with a base with part of a discarded shield and assagai.

I think this figure is now OOP but it's still being sold by Art Girona.
