I've been using series 7 brushes for over 20 years ,but i think that may be coming to an end,as i was using 3 brand new ones size 1 and 000 the last couple of weeks and i'm totally pissed of with the point i'm getting.Either an almost hard to see stray hair at the very tip of the brush,or when you form the point with paint and starting using it ,you end up with the point slightly splitting ,which is a complete nightmare when you're painting details.This has been happening on the odd occassion in the past,but it's got to the stage where i'm starting to see the red mist rising.
I tried Da Vinci brushes yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that they were holding their point really well.
Has anyone else been getting this problem.

Hear, Hear ................... . And I thought I was imagening things. This one almost impercebtible strayhair sticking out of the tip is on almost every new brush I've bought !!!!

I cannot prove it but maybe W&N have outcourced there brush production. So maybe that is where the problem lies.

Thanks. I ran into excactly the same problems. Splitting points and that bloody protuding hair.

Did you find a way of getting rid of that annoying centre hair? I mean: I just can't paint a straight line because of that!

And to be quite frank: I've had second thoughts about W&N series 7 for quite some time now.

Da Vinci series 10: what DV sizes are the equivalent to W&N 000, 00 and 0?

Have to agree Brian, last batch of Series 7 brushes I bought, four were unusable within a couple weeks due to what you stated above, two turned out Ok.
The quality has definitely dropped, and it's not as if they are cheap!,I now use Broken Toad brushes, but I will give the Da Vinci's a try.

I've tried the broken toad brushes and there not too bad but their 000 is a bummer.

Brian: have you any idea which of the Da Vinci Maestro series 10 brushes are the equivalent of W&N series 7 size no's 000, 00, 0, 1 and 2?

I've only got there size 1 and size 0.W&N series 7 equivelant brushes the 1 and the 0 are bigger than the Da Vinci brushes .I reckon if you go one size up for the Da vinci brushes you wouldn't be far of e.g. W&N size 1 = Da Vinci size 2 etc,etc, Da Vinci also do a ooooo and a 10 zero.

They've just released their MK2 brushes recently too. Pretty good for the price.
