So far this new release and the thread attracted
    - 13 likes
    - 12 members giving positive feedback
    - 6 members giving critical comments
    - 11 members and mods joining into a debate without referring to the new release (at least for once)
    - 13 posts containing info about the release (sometimes just a line - I was generous at that) - four of them being critical to the sculpt
    - 53 other posts not related to the new release (this one included)
    Was it worth it?
Do 6 critical comments backed by four posts - written by three members - containing still hobby- and topic-related info require this????
    - I like background info and hobby-related discussions. This is why I joined this Forum. But there is a majority of members that seemingly joined for other reasons.
I for my part will cut back on feedback over here - it`s not worth it IMHO.

I don't really think they did join for other reasons Martin. It's just that when disagreements arise, that's when egos, pride and hurt feelings can start to get the better of people and they can't let it rest, and feel that they have to have "the last word" (otherwise they've "lost"). So we end up with too many words and not enough thinking as a thread steadily descends into a train wreck. Guys start forgetting that the thread isn't about them, but about the piece that's been posted up.

And as Tommi says, it's then a no-win situation for us as mods because if we close threads down when they go off the rails, we then get accused of "censorship", "high-handedness" and "over moderation". But if we let them just rumble on, guys start complaining about the arguing and bickering, and about how pF just ain't the same any more because of people banging heads, and please let's go back to "the good old days" of 2005 or whenever.

And just to be clear: My comments above aren't aimed at anyone in particular, or even this thread in particular. Just a broad-sweep observation relating to forum "handbags" generally.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont, Steve!
You can never please them all. And I for certain apreciate your work and effort.

I had promised to have made my last comment on this thread..
But that was before Steve upped the ante.
Steve for a moderator I would have thought that provoking further angst by posting such niggling comments about"going back to the good old days"(clearly directed at me) was very unwise and deliberately looking to throw fuel on the fire.
If that's what you're looking for I'm still here and more than ready to respond......if we were indeed back" in the good old days" we certainly wouldn't be dealing with this childish shit in the first place.

Mark, what part of "My comments above aren't aimed at anyone in particular" is unclear?

But you're right. Enough of this shit. I should have gone with my initial instinct and locked it down on Sunday. Now rectified.
