This is my piece as my way of commemoration for Anzac Day 2016.
It's Dimitry Gaudin's wonderful anthropomorphic sculpt of a Anzac trooper as a desert red Kangaroo.
Many thanks to our own hairy primate Richie for producing and supplying this lovely piece which is available from 1879 Miniatures.
And indeed thanks to my friend Xenophon ( Krisifer here on pf ) for the beautifully appropriate Banksia base.
Finally I must thank my own best friend Billy for happily supplying the perfectly scaled whiskers.
    Cheers..one and all.

There are few 'zoomorphic' sulpts that really work, this is one of them.
It's beautifully sculpted and absolutely conveys the ANZAC spirit and attitude.
You've more than done it justice Mark....... a cracking job ....... I know a man who wishes he was a monkey who'll be delighted.

Thanks everyone glad you like it.....It's a fun piece to paint and I've never looked so closely at so many big red kangaroos before.
Dimitry did a great job on this, it's superbly proportioned and his dedication to the piece was so all consuming that he moved himself and his family to Australia so he could get up close and personal to a roo.
Steve, Billy is my four legged mate.....he's got plenty more hairs where those come from.

    Cheers...thanks again.

What a great character piece, and excellent painting. Well done.

We had a good day yesterday. Someone mentioned we (Vietnam veterans) were getting very close to the front of the march these days - pointed out to him that it wouldn't be long before we'd be beyond the front of it. :woot: Later four of us from our unit were sitting having a quiet beer when some young Afghanistan veterans rolled up and insisted on buying us drinks. It was a nice touch and we enjoyed their company. No war stories, just good camaraderie.
